The anxiety may be normal when it occurs in certain situations. However, it becomes a disease when it reoccurs very often.

Its major stimulants are inactivity, isolation, loneliness, illness and some drinks like coffee and tea. Some drugs may reduce the symptoms of anxiety.




The pathological anxiety may take several aspects:


Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)


Symptoms:


- Permanent state of danger.


- Muscle tension, tremor, fatigue.


- Very concerned with family matters and financial situation.


- Anxiety, permanent nervousness.


- Difficulty in falling asleep.


- Neurovegetative (physical disturbance): due to the discharge of adrenaline, they recall the signs of fear: tight throat, sweaty hands, tachycardia, oppression, hot flushes, need frequent urination, muscle tension, dry mouth, dizziness, sensations of instability.

The panic disorder


 


It is characterized by the presence of panic attacks that occur in unpredictable and unexpected ways. The trouble occurs suddenly accompanied by intense fear and uneasiness. The main symptoms are the same as a generalized anxiety but more intense with a fear of losing control, going mad or dying. Panic disorder can be accompanied by agoraphobia which is an intense fear in places where there is no easy means of escape. Nearly 10% of the adult population have lived at least some occasional panic attacks.


Social Phobia





The panic attacks are triggered by social situations where the person is afraid of being judged by others. The person is very interested in what his entourage and others may think of him.

The diagnosis arises only if anxiety significantly interferes with  social life of the individual.





Specific phobias


 



The panic attacks are triggered by a stimulus (blood, spiders, mice, snakes, heights, germs, airplanes, dog, etc...) Or a particular situation (arriving late for work, crowd, department stores, elevators, and so on). The object or situation is clearly defined and its presence is seen as a threat.


 


Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)


 


The person with obsessive compulsive disorder suffers many obsessions or compulsions, or both.

The obsessions are recurrent and intrusive thoughts that create anxiety. The person makes efforts to ignore, delete or neutralize these thoughts.


The compulsions are repetitive behaviors occur in response to obsessions or to prevent or reduce discomfort, or to prevent an unfortunate event.

The OCD takes a long time (more than one hour per day) or interferes with the person’s normal life.


 


Treatment





-Do not avoid places or circumstances that cause anxiety, but learn to face and not to escape.


-Avoid exciting factors

-Try to express yourself, entrust (close friend, doctor)

- Classical Psychotherapy and Cognitive-Behavioral psychotherapy.

- Relaxation.

-Daily Physical Activity to distract the minds from negative thoughts.
