7 Reasons Why We Love Our Dreamer Design Manhattan Lite Baby Jogging Stroller - Swivel Front Wheel

A traditional baby jogging stroller will be lightweight and have a fixed front wheel. When using the term fixed front wheel it means that the wheel does not swivel or turn. Because of the fixed front wheel when you want to turn the stroller you tilt the stroller back onto its rear wheels to make the turn.

The fixed front wheel is ideal for jogging, because it provides the stability and straight tracking that you need. However, many parents that like to jog with their child want more flexibility from their lightweight stroller. We fit into that category We want the stroller to be used both for jogging but also for other uses such as using it to push the baby around at the mall. The fixed wheel is great for jogging but it can become a nuisance when out shopping because it has to be tilted back onto its rear wheels to make a turn.

We have a baby jogger stroller with a swivel front wheel. This type of stroller is sometimes referred to as a hybrid jogging stroller. Here are our 7 top reasons why we love ours.

  1. Easy to jog and provide a smooth ride - this running stroller has large 16 inch back wheels. The large back wheels make it easier for me or my son's grandpa to jog and it provides our baby Holden with a smoother ride.

Part of a smooth ride for our baby is having them be as comfortable as possible. The seat on this jogger stroller is padded and it is made of a lightweight, breathable fabric. The design of the seat means that it is cool for the baby even on the hottest of days. And even though we live in Canada we get some sweltering days in the Summer.

This lightweight stroller has a seat that reclines so that our baby boy can have a nap. Quite often I will take him out for a walk or a jog with the hope that he will fall asleep. I start off with Holden in an upright position in the stroller and then after a few minutes I change the recline level merely by pinching a buckle on a belt designed for changing the recline level. Its all done in less than a second.

Also its great that the Manhattan Lite has the added flexibility for easily adjusting the height of the handlebars. Holden's grandma Cathy is much taller than me, and if she wants to use the stroller to take Holden for a walk all she does and press a button to change the height of the handlebar. Very cool!

  2. Lightweight - we didn't want to be hauling and running with a jogger stroller that was inefficiently built. This one is very light to push and to lift. And, it only weighs 24.5 pounds.

  3. Durability - we wanted a stroller that was going to last for possibly two children. This stroller has a five year warranty on its frame - that tells me that it is built to last. It is made from a welded aluminium frame, which is lightweight but is also durable.

The wheel construction is alloy wheels and steel hubs which provides for durability and helps to keep the stroller lightweight.

  4. Safety - the most important thing that we looked for is the safety of our baby. This well-built stroller has a five-point harness, which keeps our baby secure in the stroller when we are out for a walk or a jog. The seat harness is very easy to use. All that I do is place Holden in the seat, loop his arms into the harness, snap the belt buckle, and then pull one strap located at the front center of the seat until it is tight and I am ready to go. Its all done in 5 seconds or less.

The stroller has a foot brake for securing the stroller when not moving.

  5. Sun Protection - one of main reasons why we chose the Dreamer Design Manhattan Lite baby jogging stroller was that it has a sun canopy that fully rotates in order to provide shade to our baby no matter what the angle of the sun. Direct sunshine into the face of Holden causes him to be very uncomfortable and unhappy. Plus I think all of us now are becoming more and more conscious of the negative impact of the rays of the sun.

  6. Easy to put away and easy to set up - We move around a lot and travel to visit friends and family - so we needed a stroller that can be easily folded for easy storage and for loading into the trunk of a car. This stroller has a very easy, one-step process for setting up for your run or walk and for folding down to a compact size for storage or placing into a car trunk.

It is easily setup or folded down by one person. Quite often when I am out with Holden it is just the two of us - so it's important that I can do it myself. I can take the stroller out of the trunk and have it set to go in about 20 seconds, and I can fold it up and put it back into the trunk of my car in about 30 seconds.

The stroller is designed to fit into the trunk of most cars when it is folded down. This stroller folds down to 42 inches x 25 inches x 16 inches. If you need it to be folded down even smaller, it is great that the wheels pop of with a push of button making it so that it can fold down even smaller. Without the wheels it can be folded down to 39 inches x 20 inches x 12 inches. This is especially useful if you plan to travel a lot with your stroller.

  7. Weight Capacity - Weight capacity refers to the certified weight that the stroller can carry. The number refers to the total weight of the rider and not the weight of any accessories or items carried in the pockets and pouches. When we purchased this jogging stroller we wanted to make sure that it had enough capacity in order to accommodate Holden as he grew and gained weight. The last thing we wanted was to have Holden outgrow his stroller. The Dreamer Design Manhattan Lite is rated to hold a baby that weighs up to 80 pounds.
