Depression Anxiety - Tips The Doctor Gave My Friend About Her Depression Anxiety

Today I want to tell you about my friend Maria and what the doctor told her about her depression anxiety. Maria has a only short history of anxiety yet but she immediately looked for professional after I urged her to do so.

Maria was given Lexapro for depression and anxiety. She was crying for no reason, woke up scared in the night and could not sleep anymore. Lexapro did help and now she is taking it a few weeks already. She started to worry about her mental and physical help. She did not really know what Lexapro will do to her long term. What are the side effects? Will she become dependent on it?

She went to her doctor again and he explained her some details. He said that her worries are not quite correct but understandable. Her brain chemistry was already changed long before she started taking the drug. That is the reason why she was anxious and depressive.

Medications like Lexapro or any others usually change the brain chemistry because it has stopped working correctly. Serotonin and Dopamine levels are out of balance. The medication helps to normalize this again. Depression is a disease and nothing mysterious nowadays anymore.

So what the drug is doing is normalizing the natural hormone balance again so that your mental situation stabilizes again. You do not have to be afraid of becoming dependent on the medication. You can even take it for years. If you want to get off the drug then you can do so. You can reduce the dosage step by step.

The problem is not the drug but finding the right combination that works. Every patient is different. Some people just need medication during winter season for example, some may have to take it without pause. It is important to find an experienced doctor and get the right medication and ongoing adjustment.
