The average chance of death can be brought down by 2%, if you can reduce your blood pressure! Continue to read, and you will learn more about this study, and also learn how you can benefit from it.

Recently, a study was carried out to determine how much difference this treatment makes in lowering blood pressure in elderly patients. The results of this study were successful enough that the study was stopped early so that all patients could receive the actual treatment rather than the placebo.

Of all the 3,845 people who took part in this study, the average blood pressure was 173/91. This study included 195 hospitals in 13 various countries.

There was a spectacular drop in the rate of mortality during this four year study, the cause of this was determined to be a drop in the mean blood pressure. This drop was from 173/91 to the low 150/61. At the same time, the gross mortality rate fell by around 21%, there were 30% less fatal-strokes and 23% less deaths from heart disease. However, the biggest mortality drop was the reduction of death from total heart failure by 64%.

This study has proven that reducing your blood pressure can lead to a longer and healthier life. Keeping your blood pressure within normal range should be the goal of everyone.

The healthy blood pressure can be maintained by various ways. Some of the established methods to maintain your blood pressure in under limit where it should be are mentioned below:

* Regular exercise and physical activity. Begin work that takes more walks. Go to the gymnastics. Avoid lift or escalator, take stairs. All these things can help you to keep your blood pressure in the control. Think about changing your daily routine in order to give your body a good physical exercise. You will be astonished how avid you begin to feel.

* Smoking is not allowed. If you smoke, it is advised that you take measures to quit right now. If you don't, it is likely that you will die at an early age from smoke inhalation. The smoke from a cigarette is toxic, and it can cause respiratory problems and high blood pressure.

* Avoid junk food. The processed junk foods are packed with the things such as preservatives, chemicals etc., that are bad for your body. Yet all of this 'junk' adds up and leads to a real health concern. Rather, divert your attention on healthy foods like fruits and vegetables daily. I can assure you will begin to feel good and will wonder why you ever ate so much of junk food.

These three steps are just the start to a healthy lifestyle. Your body is a fine tuned machine that requires regular maintenance to stay healthy. If you make your health your top priority you will live longer than those who don't choose to take care of themselves. If you care about yourself and want to feel better and live longer, you need to change your lifestyle today.
