The first thing you're going to need to do is stick with peak hours for trading. Peak hours are the time when the volume of trades are at the highest. The great thing about this is that the currencies are moving completely in the direction the market is telling them too. There are no big banks or firms that are able to manipulate a currency. During the off peak hours, large banks and firms can make large trades that will push the currency in any direction they want. The volume at that time is low, so they have that ability. As a smaller trader, it's not worth your time messing with that. Stick with the peak hours.

I'm often amazed at the amount of people that make trades with poor margins for profit. You have to realize that your broker is getting a cut and if your trades are leaving you with very little, you're just wasting potential. Have a margin that is decent, so you're making a decent profit in a trade and not losing it all to your broker.

Lastly, you need to be smart and cut losses. We all have losses. The best traders to the worst will have bad trades. The difference between the two types of traders is the best won't let the loss damage them. When you learn to cut losses, you can save yourself a lot of lost money chasing a rise in currency that never comes. Move on and make a profitable trade.
